Unit 1
Short Story: a brief piece of fiction.
- It can be Mysteries, romances, adventures, thrillers and etc.
- It can offer a new and interesting view of life and spark your imagination.
- They work through a conflict, which leads to a climax, and a resolution.

Fiction: writing that is about imaginary people, places, and events.

Foreshadowing: The use of clues to suggest events that will happen later in the plot.
-It is used to build suspense or create anxiety.

Suspense: The uncertainty or anxiety you feel about what will happen next in a story.

Conflict: A struggle between two opposing forces that lies at the center of a story.
-External conflict: involves a character's struggle with another person or a force of nature (a tornado, a bear)
-Internal conflict: takes place within a character's mind, such as a struggle of conscience.
